COMMERCE — A student-led rally hoping to drum up support for medical marijuana is scheduled on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce, and the man behind the event has high hopes for its success.

The rally, which is being organized by the College Democrats student organization, is set for Thursday at the university amphitheater. Matthew Markovitch, who serves as president of the organization, says that the event has been his brainchild, and it was a contentious issue even within the organization.
